Having grown up in Southern California, I dreamed of a slower - more peaceful way of life. When my wife of 21 years Lisa and I had the opportunity to visit Gold Beach in 2005, we fell in love.
At the time, both of our children were in their late teens. We had an opportunity to travel extensively with them and at the time they did not anticipate a week in Oregon to be a great vacation. During that vacation, both our son and daughter also fell in love with this beautiful place - white water rafting, blackberry picking, and seeing our first bald eagle together. There were no cell phones, no television, and no distractions from each other. It was truly a "family vacation" and a magical time. |
